Re: “ Jew Hatred Is Not the Problem at Penn (or Other Universities). Radicalism Is.”

I get, and agree, that the answer to “bad” speech is more speech.

However, that being said the environment for such speech requires a willingness on the part of each participant to listen to the other side.

In the current atmosphere on college campuses that necessary atmosphere is not at all evident.

However, I believe If swift, strict and/or severe consequences were to be even-handedly meted out for disruptive actions and behaviors, most especially “shout-downs” of invited speakers, they would go a long way in helping to foster a quieter and more restrained environment whereby students would be less likely to act out (for fear of said consequences), and more likely to have to just listen.

Israel’s determination to fight this war it’s own way and on its own terms is the only guarantor of success, and it’s defiance of US pressure is key to that overall success, particularly in a war with the North.

Just as the defeat of Hamas is essential in Gaza, I believe a confrontation with Lebanon is inevitable.

That is why I also believe Israel’s determination to finish the job in Gaza, most especially in defiance of US wishes, is not just for tactical reasons, but as an even more valuable strategic move when it comes to the thinking of Hezbollah and Lebanon.

If Israel is willing to defy America in Gaza, it will most definitely be willing to defy them in the North, which will be a far more deadly and dangerous operation. Should the US try to pressure Israel to use restraint there, and Israel says, “No way”, that is a definite losing scenario for Lebanon.

The now sidelined US would then only be left to make the history-altering choice of whether they’d openly take the side of Lebanon and against Israel, to aid Lebanon.

And, even as anti-Israel as this administration is, I don’t think even they would go that far.

But then, ya never know.
