Still hoping Trump is no fool, nor does it seem is Hegseth, and sees through the false accolades of tucker carlson and his band of Obama/Biden policy supporting wonks who seem blind/deaf/dumb to Iran's role in promoting international discord and terrorism. One can't help but think there is an element of antisemitism involved, since in revolves around indifference to the fact Israel is on the front line of the fight against terrorism against the west, and would be target #1 of any Iranian attack. Do we forget Iran just last year launched hundreds of ballistic missiles toward Israel intended to kill thousands. They did not succeed, but not for lack of trying. One wonders if the Koch billionairre influenced pseudo intellectuals trying to sabatoge Trump's agenda thought process go like this: Israel is a nation of Jews, mostly, so should America really care?
My old McGill colleague Gil Troy is not totally wrong about problems with tenure for professors. There are weak and non-performing professors who should face consequences for not fulfilling their duties. But professors can be fired "for cause," and not doing the work should count as "cause." On the other hand, tenure is the only thing that protects professors from ideological impositions by administrators and activists. While many academics lost their positions to woke cancel culture, many others were able to defend themselves in court because they had tenure and there was no legitimate "cause" for their firing and demotion or suspension other than DEI "social justice" ideology. Without tenure, professors would be naked before the slings and arrows of ideology cancel culture.
Reforming and possibly replacing tenure depends on university leaders and trustees willing and with the intestinal fortitude to rework academic promotion systems completely
Gil Troy‘s article offering recommendations, wise as they may be, to Harvard’s president as how to go about reforming that bastion of Wokeism, errs right out of the gate in assuming he’s the least bit interested in doing any such thing.
He’s exhibited zero evidence he has has even the slightest inclination toward salvaging whatever remains of that decaying institution, only that he’s determined to defy all reason and common sense even if the place crumbles all around him in the process.

Good to have at least 1 member of the new right nut job wing, Laura loomer, point out the danger of the Koch, Soros foreign policy team.
How ironic that both Soros and Koch are using Tucker Carlson the Pat Buchanan of this century to undermine Trump and his agenda
Both have strong China trade & investment connections. If Xi had a different view on Israel, they would change their opinion in a nanosecond.

I agree. Without tenure they would purge people like Amy Wax like decades ago.

I say good riddance to both him and Harvard.
Accountability is a good thing.
