The Scroll remains one of the most important voices on Substack. All the LA wildfire re-report today makes sense. Zuck on an apology tour looking like Robert Plant in ‘68. By the time Trump leaves office if he lets it grow - he’ll look like Zep’s lead singer in ‘73.
“ Zuckerberg essentially confirmed the argument of the plaintiffs in Murthy v. Missouri that the administration had violated Americans’ First Amendment rights by delegating censorship to the tech companies—an argument that the Supreme Court rejected on standing grounds in June.“
That, thanks to the Chief Justice and Amy Coney Barrett, and to their everlasting shame.
And to make matters worse, in his annual report on the Courts, Roberts whined about the “dangers of disinformation”!
Both he and Barrett need to take an emergency refresher course on the Constitution, with an emphasis on the Bill of Rights.
Stick built and OSB, probably. If any walls survive, they're probably ICF or concrete block. There's plenty of fuel for a hot, hot fire - a steady wind coming up an arroyo or canyon, plus mesquite and eucalyptus - and throw in a few oil palms, and you wind up with Mother Nature's Blowtorch.
Median annual home insurance could not be a LOW of $5,400, this would be a very expensive amount. Are you talking about very expensive homes only? I have paid less than a quarter of that in recent years on my average (about $400k) home. Please check your facts.
Remember when Republican Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested that laser beams from space may have started the 2018 California wildfires, and that among the entities behind this conspiracy were former California Gov. Jerry Brown, Pacific Gas & Electric, and Rothschild Inc., an investment firm frequently targeted by anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists.e LA fires.
Mesquite, eucalyptus, and palm - produce oil and resin which burns like a torch. Add Santa Ana winds, and you get a blowtorch, enough of these and you get a firestorm, hot enough to soften structural steel, as seen on the beachfront at Malibu, opposite arroyos and canyons.
I remember a friend losing her home to the Oakland Firestorm of 1991. Drought, winds, dryness, and eucalyptus. After the fire, eucalyptus was forbidden. Thanks for your informative comment which, for once, is not about Donald Trump.
are concerns about some members and factions within the AfD being linked to extremist groups or expressing views that align with neo-Nazi ideology accurate?
One of the major planks of the AfD platform, and what galvanized it onto the political scene in Germany, is to put an end to the mass immigration policies of the German government.
This has tended to naturally attract the less desirable factions who tend to have more extremist leanings, but they are less than even a countable minority of the over all AfD party, similar to radicals here in the USA who try to latch onto political parties.
Those in the German government and media deliberately exaggerate and use such tactics to malign the AfD party with such smears in order not just to sideline them, but to actually attempt to outlaw them.
Just like they tried to do here by calling Trump Hitler. Same tactic - only the German version.
I don’t think so. My take is it’s just a smear to scare citizens from supporting the common sense (nationalist/populist) positions forwarded by the AfD.

Excellent write-up on California's priorities. Really well done.

The debacle in LA is what happens when some fantasy and luxury beliefs hit reality .The cleaning out of the NSC is an excellent move

You have a very low insurance rate. Mine in line with what the article indicates.
Another explanation for the LA fires:

Yeah, it’s why it’s called the Devil’s Wind.
