The 14th Amendment, Sec. 1, starts: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."
The Constitutional question regarding birthright citizenship will be the meaning of "subject to the jurisdiction thereof." I would guess that the government will argue that it means at least one parent is a US citizen or, at least, in the US legally. The other side will argue it has some ministerial meaning or is just meaningless boilerplate, and stare decisis, that changing the interpretation after 160 years would be unwise and inappropriate and, as the current interpretation has been used since the earliest days of the Amendment, it is illogical to claim it originally meant anything else.
Yeah. Our state of Illinois has insurmountable problems related to forever growing budget deficit, population decline, large corporations leaving the city and the state, the rot in public education, and of course crime, but what do we do? File a lawsuit against Trump to fight the birthright provision. As if there is no other way to challenge him and that is an absolute priority for IL residents.

While pretty much everyone in the country is going to be affected one way or another by the efforts of the new Trump administration, the silver lining in these times is how much more attuned the overall citizenry is to the actions of their government.
