With Colby, Caldwell and DiMino hires, I’m gathering and of course purely speculating that although Trump insists on loyalty (as he should), he appears open to a diversity of views. Until further evidence emerges, Rubio, Hegseth, Waltz, Radcliffe, Stefanik and Huckabee are solid Israel supporters. In fact, the most solid ever. So 2,000 pound bombs on their way, West Bank sanctions lifted and calls made to Arab allies to take in Gazan refugees. With everything going on - Panama, Mexico, Canada, Greenland and Colombia, Trump is keeping everyone guessing. And that’s the point. It’s a good thing. Ceasefire in Ukraine by end of February and regime change in Iran by Spring.
Hegseth's public statements and his excellent book show that he is very pro Israel and anti Iran, as opposed to Carlson and Mills, the Pat Buchanans of 2024-it will be very interesting to see if Hegseth can deal with the personnel who have been nominated as his deputies who do not share those views
The "blame the neocon" meme is too big for the Carlson, Candace Owens Internet trolls to give up. It supports hundreds of new right, alt left podcast talking head channels all over X and YouTube.
Regrettably, some of the Federal employees, likely mainly in DC, have given millions of others such a bad name. We should remember that most of these employees don't work in DC; they work for your local social security, USDA, EEOC, OSHA, etc, office mostly hard-working middle Americans, many of whom are veterans.
The rhetoric around "remote" workers not "going to work" also implies that tens of millions of non-federal remote workers don't "go to work." Most are likely to argue otherwise.
This could very likely backfire on the admin; when they need the support of the existing employees, they are creating a significant amount of animosity. We all know what it's like to deal with an unhappy, angry, and unwilling bureaucrat, and the reality is we have to have them.
The flip side is that many of those federal workers are already unhappy, angry etc. because. Trump. Example being the FBI during his first term. So. What’s the risk here?
I highly doubt it was some low-level ex-vet FBI employee in a middle-of-the-country office who was hatching and scheming grand plans against Trump. Likely, many were doing the opposite, and many likely voted for him, even enthusiastically. FBI or otherwise.
The risk is everywhere. Trump, the cabinet, his family and a few outsiders can't implement national/global policies themselves. They can cut, shut down, and all that without nearly as much cooperation, but when it comes time to implement, that would concern me.
Ok. How bout the DOJ? State Dept ftc, fda etc? They have shown how anti trump they are. Washington is filled with the liberal elites who are “lifers” in the govt. they all hated Trump during his first term. They haven’t changed that now. And those middle of the country , vet 1811’s you are referencing are not going to hate Trump because he is cracking down on the department’s.
As I said aside from DC since they were all already returned to the office and most of them are climbers anyways.
Veterans have preferred hiring status in almost all federal agencies. They make up a large part of the workforce. That's just one segment of people who are likely Loyalist, these agencies span all 50 states have people all over the country.
When they or their spouse lose their job or have pack up and move, sell their house, find a new school for kids, they will be as unhappy as anyone would be when they feel they're being punished for something they didnt do.

Love Park Macdougald's humorous stings in the stories on Columbia and Lebanon.
