So hating and attacking Jews isn't necessarily wrong in itself, it just depends if it's regime supporters or opponents who are doing the attacking.

I hate to generalize about 2 continents w maybe a billion people total, but my feeling is that the West (esp those who came of age this century) have lived such safe and prosperous lives, have never experienced war or served in the military, don't hunt or kill their own food, don't see their parents die in their beds (all for the most part), that the pain of the Palestinians (who know just how to pose their corpses for the camera) is much more real and urgent to most people, and if there is one thing a coddled Westerner knows is that pain is no fun and no one deserves to suffer for any reason.
Whereas the civilization Israel represents is mostly an abstraction to them/us, could never be threatened or lost, and will always be there for us, as sure as clean water will always flow from our taps and electricity will always arrive with the flick of a switch. And the Palestinians deserve this as much as any of us do, regardless of how evil or corrupt their leaders have been.
I guess my point is that we will not really appreciate all the gifts of liberal capitalist democracy until they are lost or seriously threatened and that for now Israel seems like a bully who needs to cut it out so their Western cousins can get some peace and get back to Netflix.
And once the Islamists succeed in importing this war to the West (which they will), the Jews will be blamed for provoking them, as Jews are always the prime scapegoat.
The question as to whether the West has a stronger urge to survive or to commit suicide is still open, and we will find out the answer in the next decades.
