The left has manipulated the families of the hostages and refuses to understand that only the eradication of Hamas will result in the rescuing of the hostages You don’t win a war against a vicious snd subhuman enemy by engaging in hostage exchanges
There is a halachic issur to pay for hostages far above their value because this encourages further hostage taking as well as murder. Because a sizeable proportion of hostages does get murdered by their hostage takers.
The whole idea behind the Disengagement in 2005 was that if the Gazans were left with a state they would be forced to act as responsible state actors. Obviously, this is not what happened. So it makes sense to go back to status quo ante. With Gush Kativ and everything! Including settling the Philadelphi and Netzarim corridors.
I'd like to ask Ms. Zangauker what exactly Israel hasn't tried to do to get the hostages released?
From my shallow observations it seems like the government has done all it can think of to try to get them released short of national capitulation. I don't understand why the families don't understand they are trying to get the government to trade a guarantee of future hostages for those held today.
Israel should have never gotten into the business of trading hunbdreds of Hamas prisoners for each Israeli as it just encourages more hastages but it has to end somehow and it sure doesn't appear anything less than the destruction of Hamas will stop their killing.
Would she have traded leaving Hitler in power for the release of concentration camp victims? Same mentality and just as short sighted.
Hitler wasn't open to such deals. Himmler was, but the Western Allies didn't want them (or him). The Swedes and Swiss were complicit. For example, the initiative to release some Jewish inmates in March 1945 came from Himmler, the Swedes represented by Count Folke Bernadotte wanted only non-Jewish Scandinavians to be released. In the end, a compromise was reached so that a few Jewish inmates also got released (8% out of the total 21,000).
Why do so many Israelis allow the hostage families to hold the entire country hostage to their pain? It’s as if the lives of the hostages are valued more than the lives of sons and daughters who risk their lives on the battlefield. As if all of Israel were not now hostage to Hamas!
It is absolutely suicidal to imagine Israel can make a deal to get the hostages back and not lose the country in the process. Israel might not die immediately if they leave Gaza Arab-occupied, but it will spell the beginning of the end.
Israel has this last chance to get it right. Israelis need to stop blaming Netanyahu for their collective stupidity in thinking they could negotiate a peace deal with genocidal Arab and Muslim supremacists. And Netanyahu needs to find the courage he lost, back in 2009, when, instead of sticking to the truth that there must never be another Arab state created from the Jews’ indigenous land, he changed his tune and said he accepted the need for a Palestinian state. Israel’s survival requires that it tell the world it is done sacrificing its people to the Arab and Muslim fantasy of a Palestinian people and state. Allowing that fantasy to take root has produced a global state of psychotic Jew-hatred, and the only way to end that psychosis is for the world to reject the fantasy in favor of reality. Reality is that Jews living in our ancestral homeland, which includes Gaza, Judea, Samaria, etc. poses zero threat to any Arabs who live in peace with Israelis. The West has allowed this genocidal movement to endure, because it thinks this ensures a steady flow of Middle East oil. Even if that was once true, it isn’t any longer. The failure of Western societies to stop the continued genocidal violence against Israelis and Jews is complicity in it. This should not be hard for anyone to understand.
An even better idea would be to occupy the Strip exclusively. And by that I mean the Jews doing what they should have done over two millennia ago and just ridding the world of Phillistines. It’s Phillistines or Israel. I don’t know how they could make that any more clear.
Israel and the world have reached the limit of what it can do to secure the return of the hostages. Horribly sad and probably horrific for the families waiting to hear, but true. It was true for a long time. Gaza can never be returned to the Palestinians. They have shown us who they are, the world is just denying it. Hamas was never going to return the hostages - they shot some of them rather than have them rescued. They don't even deny that murder and torture is their aim. This war is not about a homeland. This war is about evil.
All Palestinians should be exiled from Gaza and Israel immediately. Might I suggest setting up a tent city in Iran, where they will feel more comfortable. I have just seen enough of this c*** over my lifetime. To realize there will be no peace in this area. As long as the Palestinians are allowed to remain there, exile is the only answer. Way past time to grow a pair and do what needs to be done.

I agree that the order is aimed at American films, but his tweet suggests it is so broad that it will include foreign films - most unfortunate since very little of interest is coming from US films.
But, I actually watch films that aren’t mega blockbusters and happen to be aware of how many “American made” films aren’t even filmed in the USA despite the fact that an exotic setting isn’t a factor.
I do think many people in the media are also well aware of this phenomenon, and yet despite this their responses are willfully obtuse because it serves their interests.
Canadian film and TV production is largely for American studios. Canada offers lots of financial incentives to get the work. Another area where Canada is likely to be negatively impacted - coming from a Canadian ;)
True. Almost everything set in Seattle for example is actually filmed in Vancouver. Wasn’t it season 5 ( or was it 7? ) when X-Files filming left Los Angeles.
This has been going on for a long time. The PNW settings are gorgeous but it’s ridiculous that we USians don’t support our own economic interests and local industries, instead going for a NAFTA style exploitation in the pursuit of short term profits. I certainly don’t blame Canada for taking advantage of our corporate greed however. That said, we absolutely should re-shore as much of our film industry as possible.

The declaration by the President is NOT ABOUT FOREIGN FILMS.
It’s about returning HOLLYWOOD’S PRODUCTION and FILMING to the United States.
It’s akin to reshoring factories. Hollywood is in the USA.
It seems that every news source I see misses this crucial point.
I agree that the order is aimed at American films, but his tweet suggests it is so broad that it will include foreign films - most unfortunate since very little of interest is coming from US films.
It seemed obvious to me.
