Democrat Matt Stoller has a different take on Gaetz that is worth your read. How someone acts when the cameras are not rolling speaks highly of that persons’ core beliefs, and Gaetz did that for Matt:

Matt Gaetz is anti big government, anti big business and wants to break up big tech. If you understand this then you understand why they are trying to ‘Edward Snowden’ and ‘Julian Assange’ him.

Gaetz is drawing so much negative coverage because his positions upset powerful people that like the existing framework of corporate and national security dominance. If you like that existing framework then Gaetz is surely not your guy!

If Gaetz isn’t confirmed (and god I hope he is), then he’ll likely be appointed to the Senate by DeSantis to fill Rubio’s spot, and he can antagonize the very people who prevented him from AG. Thune and company better think hard if they want him in their club or not… If they do (because they deny him AG), then for Trump, 2nd up for AG could be Harmeet Dhillon - and then Gaetz can throw bombs in the Senate.

The rot of DOJ isn’t going to be lanced without a blitzer like Matt Gaetz. They hate him and he hates them. That is a perfect MAGA mix and I’m here for it.

Let’s sure hope Gaetz won’t be confirmed as AG. He is no Bill Barr for sure

Bill Barr sabotaged Trump in countless ways.

To “NOT be Bill Barr” is a plus!

Not sabotaged but tried to prevent a disaster.

Bill Barr and his like are for the status quo. No thanks. Every Trump nominee/appointment so far are run, running away from the RINOS and signal the need to shake the tree of liberty. It’s really great to see.

Opus dei is Bill Barr's home in the Catholic Church. Subversive yet part of the church, different than the Jesuits, Robert Hansen the famous Church going American spy was an opus dei member who confessed to one of his clergy that he was spying and it was known within the US government for 20 years by opus dei elements without consequence fwiw. Bill Barr is deep state and enabled the false prosecutions against Trump

The use of the term 'Opus Dei' is meant to convey the thought that anyone so described is, at best, weird and, at worst, one step removed from the devil. Bill Barr is certainly not MAGA, but he is a good man and a good lawyer [yes, those terms are not mutually exclusive]. The task with respect to the DOJ is the removal of all partisan/woke personnel at whatever level from the top down and replacing them with non-partisan professionals. The job is not to replace them with people who will do the same to the other side as was done under the current cast of miscreants.

Kennedy’s views on health, in addition to lying far outside the mainstream scientific consensus, have also overlapped with antisemitic rhetoric in the past. Last year he baselessly claimed that COVID had been “ethnically targeted” to avoid “Ashkenazic Jews and Chinese.” During a 2022 anti-vaccine rally, he declared, “Even in Hitler’s Germany, you could cross the Alps into Switzerland, you could hide in the attic like Anne Frank did” — a remark he later apologized for. He also has a history of using the word “holocaust” to refer to vaccine policies.

“In other words, that’s how this supposed “loyalist” treats his friends when his back is against the wall: by threatening to dirty them up and bring them down with him.”

I didn’t perceive his bringing up the past accusation against Carlson as an attempt to dirty him, or imply a threat at all.

I believe he meant “you’ve been where I am, so you can empathize with how awful it is.”

But when he went on to bring up the part about the dinner they’d supposedly had together with the purported “witness” THAT was truly weird, and definitely took Carlson aback. It definitely COULD HAVE been construed to imply, “and you too could be implicated in my problem.” I will give you that.

All that being said, I’ve always found Gaetz to be not just weird, but, shall we say, undisciplined in his emotions, a loose cannon of sorts. He wouldn’t never have even been on my radar for that cabinet position, nor any other for that matter. It truly puzzles me.

Put yourself in Trumps shoes and it makes total sense. All the law fare against DJT blessed by the DOJ to prevent him from advancing to #47 and dude was shot in the face and same DOJ memory holes the entire assassination attempt by going radio silent. Trump is playing a different game than everyone else. I love that everyone is shocked at the Gaetz pick but not shocked at all that we still don’t know what motivated Thomas Matthew Crooks.

I think that a lot of career DOJ personnel with progressive views will bail out of DOJ especially if Trump staffs the high ranking division chiefs in DOJ with conservatives
