My leftist friends are greatly disturbed when I inform them that I didn't think Obama was such a great President. His foreign policy was awful and his turn away from Saudi Arabia towards Iran puzzling. The entire left has followed him. I will also mention that he made it ok to hate Israel. Although he made great military agreements with Israel (which financially enriched the right people) his rhetoric was veering towards anti-Semitism and has released all the J Street Jews to full throttle.
Thank you for this enlightening article. It's more clear than ever what a disaster Obama's foreign policy was, from "reset with Russia" to footsie with Iran. We'll be paying the price for his narcissistic and amateurish dabbling for a long time.
I will push back slightly on this narrative. There is another difference between the two attacks: Khashoggi was killed by members of the Saudi government, apparently on direct orders of the government's leader. Rushdie was attacked by what seems to be a freelancer--encouraged by the government of Iran, no doubt, but we have no indication that the attack was directly ordered and facilitated by that government. I do think that's a meaningful difference.
On the other hand, the Iranian government was behind the intended attack on John Bolton, an actual (former) U.S. government official, not merely a private citizen. That doesn't seem to have mattered much to the Biden administration, which seems to be willing to sacrifice everything, including national dignity, to make some sort of deal with Iran.
Podcaster (and former Al -Qaeda member turned MI6 double-agent) Aimen Dean offers a compelling suggestion that the Khashoggi killing, whilst deplorable, was most-likely not premeditated, but rather likely a botched kidnapping attempt: https://messageheard.com/conflicted-transcripts/s3-e3-spying-for-saudi
If correct, the Saudi government is still responsible for his death of course and worthy of criticism, but it would further take away from the narrative that they are subhuman beasts with whom no self-respecting nation should ever entertain engagement.
The difference between the Khashoggi and Rushdi cases is that the deep state voices in the Democratic Party are fanatic supporters of radical Islam (with connections to Qatar?). Saudi Arabia is their enemy because MBS is reforming Saudi Arabia and suppressing radical Islam. They support Iran because it is the leader of the Islamic revolution. They support Turkey under Erdogan. And they are anti-Zionist.

This fine article MUST be widely circulated, over the objections of the mainstream media and press. Anyone who can help get this done?
