Comparing a novice songwriter to Robertson unfortunately and unfairly misses the point. Christopher Lunsford aka Oliver Anthony (apparently Mr. Grossman failed to do his homework) wrote a protest song. Robbie Robertson wrote an historic ballad. Mr. Grossman's attempt to disparage the politics behind the protest by an inappropriate comparison is a tawdry display of managerial arrogance by a member of the elite class that Lunsford disparages.
Thank you, for this thoughtful response to article, "The Night They drove Oliver Anthony Down", by Mr Grossman. Spot on comment. The comparison is insulting to the both musicians and considering Mr. Lunsford turned down an 8 million offer from the music elites speaks in volumes. Mr. Grossman does not get "it".
What Grossman misses about the “Richmond” song is not so much the song or the singer, but the nerve it has touched quite literally around the world.
That’s the real story.
People the world over are feeling raw, worn out, abused and ignored by their respective governments and representatives, and the wealthy elites who think they know what’s best for us peons.
Robertson’s song is a great song, about the agony of another time and place.
Oliver Anthony’s ode is about the little man, the individual today.
And to think, all of this destruction and devastation with no sign of let-up, and untold damage to the entire world order, could all have been avoided if Ukraine just agreed not to pursue joining NATO.
Re Broidy vs. Qatar lobbyists, you have misidentified the adverse parties as “plaintiffs” when they should be identified as “defendants.”

Big difference.
