Gallant’s siding with those in the military who chose to intervene in politics over the Judicial Reforms, to the extent they would refuse to serve, seems to me to be a stance completely contrary, an almost complete 180 turn, to all that he purported to believe in as a lifetime soldier and commander. And then, not coincidentally from that point, even his mistrust of the US seemed to dwindle if not evaporate, appearing to agree with their vision of how Israel should prosecute the war and its endgame versus the one he had long espoused, almost his entire life.

I may be misinterpreting what has gone down, but somethings very “off” there, and it’s not comforting.

“On the one hand, we agree that the international left’s blanket opposition to evacuating civilians from Gaza—on the grounds it would constitute “ethnic cleansing”—is morally obscene and yet another example of an international “norm” designed to apply to Israel and only Israel (an estimated 6.7 million refugees left Syria during its civil war, while at least 6 million Ukrainians have fled since Russia’s invasion).”

I would love to see Blinken advocate for the resettlement of Gaza. I am sure thousands of Gazans would leave Gaza if they could. Congo is as good of a place as any other, so why so much criticism towards this sane and rational idea... Or South Africa, since they are so compassionate about Palestinians.

Maybe Iran has Biden in a tight spot with his dwindling dreams of some nuclear and regional settlement. If they mount an attack inside US and the Jihadi perps crossed the southern border, it will cost a lot of votes.

Of course, in order to expose/defeat white nationalism in the U.S. military and elsewhere, whether it hides in the closet, under the bed or in the combat arms, Biden could take the position that open boarders help if illegal crossers were offered preferential enlistment terms to close the recruitment gap. Dems just need to be more creative here.
