Another story about the dangers of wearing a face mask, full of "coulds" and "mights" cause brain damage. Yikes! Did anyone tell all those surgeons who wear one every time they have to breathe over your exposed innards- you know, cause they might or could sneeze that might or could have germs. I hope you don't have the same issue with washing your hands, even when you don't leave anything visible behind.
You keep deflecting to surgeons, as if that’s the entire point of masks or this article, when they do, in fact, suffer from the side effects. I never said for surgeons not to wear them but it seems you want to disregard the entire premise how harmful mask are when not in a sterile environment. Stop comparing apples to oranges. It’s not the same in the slightest but this is repeated over and over as a lame talking point. They are REQUIRED to wear them, we aren’t, again in a sterile environment. We aren’t operating, they are. Didn’t think I had to explain that logic. Stop conflating the two and read the data I actually linked, that backs up that masks, in general, (especially fashion masks being sold like snake oil) are more harmful than beneficial for viruses. If you can’t comprehend that, then I’m sure you also choose to wear a mask in the car and in your home. By all means, do you, but it can’t and doesn’t need to be mandated for everyone else, especially children. You’re fighting a point that is silly to even argue.
I would hope you learn but you just ignored the entire point yet again. You came on here to comment how this article is disingenuous with a fallacy yourself and then were corrected, yet again and refuse to admit fault. You Noah, are part of the problem of why the government has invaded our bodily autonomy, schools, homes and medical privacy. I hope you can come to terms that sometimes it’s better if you don’t have data to back you up, to stay quiet because the data doesn’t lie. Happy New Year!
How about conducting your own research and asking said doctors you people love referring to. Or do you just enjoy blindly speaking for those in that profession as if you had the personal experience and knowledge? You speak as if it doesn’t happen, when the research shows it does. What you have is called cognitive dissonance, because you want to believe what you’re told so badly, you would disregard those who have done the footwork and provided evidence and facts. Try asking doctors or nurses if they ever experience headaches or the list of other side effects listed and I’m willing to bet you won’t like the answers (because it’s been done and been proven). Just because they have to wear them, doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect them and majority people wearing masks are wearing useless cloth and cheap, contaminated Chinese masks. The risk-benefit analysis suggest the cure can’t be worst than the sickness and being covid is 99% non-fatal, I’ll continue to take my chances and not force my children to avoid getting anymore bacterial infections and subject them to limited oxygen etc. Idk if you know this but even after washing your hands, you’re STILL exposed to germs constantly. Thank god for our immune system! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8072811/
You also want to believe what you are told, so badly. See? This is what I know, from observation, education, and experience. Surgeons wear masks so they don't kill their patients with germs. They've been doing so for a long time. It could be that you are correct, that masks essentially make the wearer sick and stupid. Are you going to tell your surgeon that masks are optional? Fine, go ahead. I'll require mine to wear a mask. And there's an interesting video that shows how you have more germs on you after a shower than before. We'll all thank you for showering anyways. At the end of the day, may you and your children be good and healthy, however you manage it.
I've been giving myself a symbolic lick of fingers after touching door handles in public spaces for years. Symbolic, but also literal. Haven't had a cold or flu in years. My sample size is small, but my team has chosen the sample well. As for masks, they're in the world at large for purely comic effect. I enjoy the whole show, the whole, how you say it...comedia. Many thanks to everyone. It wouldn't be this funny if you all didn't take it so seriously.
Nitpick: The Substack app and email versions of this newsletter don’t give bios for the authors of the mask piece (I haven’t looked on desktop). I infer that they’re scientists or medical professionals (and not Tablet staff or regular columnists) but this is one case where readers would benefit from seeing the writers’ credentials. Thanks for listening. (Well, reading)
Thanks, Mr. Pickles, for flagging this. We've added the bios to the page, and are pasting them below, as well.

A finding that masking may reduce brain function explains so much of what we’ve experienced the past few years.

I signed off on this conversation, yet here you are arguing with me again. Go in peace, fellow human.
