I had not heard of this comparison, and frankly find it insightful and highly relevant. Obviously, the situations and times are different, but there is enough similarity in the core scenario that it is worth much greater thought.

The author seems to take the position that the past is repeating itself, and that is a bad thing. But history is always repeating itself, everywhere over the millennia. His tone is unfortunately arrogant, presupposing that his interpretation is the only one since he gets to pick the particular historical incident. This also is nothing new, and the author finds himself in the same historical loop he is complaining about.

I don't know why Tablet keeps pushing the obviously false narrative that opposition to the Israeli government's judicial reform is coming from outsiders. The evidence in Israel and everyone I talk to about makes it clear that this idea is nonsense.
