“The incident is the latest in a string of violent encounters between strangers in recent months, where paranoid homeowners have immediately pointed a gun at those who happened upon their homes.”

I’m always skeptical of these sorts of purported trends in violent crime. What happened to the supposed crime wave against Asian-Americans, for instance? Did that just fizzle out? Violence in America is a massive data set. If you just pluck out anecdotes, you can make up any story you want (see, e.g. BLM on the left or immigrant rapists and murderers on the right). Has there really been a “string” of paranoid homeowners shooting strangers, or did the media just decide to start plucking out those anecdotes?

I just paid $80 to subscribe -- apparently to the Scroll. What is the difference between a subscription to the Scroll versus the Tablet? Very unclear messaging from this site, though I do appreciate and admire ther content. Can someone explain? I'm sure others are confused as well.
